Today I accompanied Susan Bendijo, SV's staff that works with Hixson High school students, to a faculty meeting to talk more about Student Venture and what we do. We shared for about 10 minutes about the various ways we work with students and how we can come into their classrooms to talk about relevant topics among teenagers today. Susan has been in a couple classrooms over the past month and has been well received by the students. Ashlee and I hope to be active in this once we are on campus at Soddy Daisy. It was great for me to see so many teachers that were there when I was in school. I let them know that even though we will be officially assigned to Soddy Daisy, I will still find time for my beloved Hixson High school! It was great to run into some students that I know as well. There are several seniors that I coached in wrestling when they were in the 6th grade!!!! That's just scary...

Hixson High Prayer Meetings
Went to Hixson High school (Yes, I am an alumni!) yesterday morning to share briefly in their Prayer Meeting. About 25 high school students showed up for free donuts (thanks Clarence! aka "THE MAN"). This is a student led meeting that lasts for about 30 minutes during advisory on Wednesday mornings. It was great to hear students open up about what is going on in their lives and to pray for each other's needs. My encouragement to them was to have time every day set aside for prayer and reading and meditating on God's Word. We looked at a couple of passages of scripture of prayers that Jesus prayed as well as Paul. Pray that these students continue to meet and be open with one another. Pray that they will learn the importance of having a devoted prayer time every day. Are you devoting solid time to prayer every day? If not, you're missing out.

Soddy Daisy Freshmen Football Outreach
This was just too incredible of a story to not post. We aren't able to take part in ongoing ministry at Soddy Daisy just yet but we still want to keep you informed of what's going on presently. So this past Thursday, Sept 10th, there was an outreach to the freshmen football team at Soddy. Someone shared their testimony and another presented the Gospel. Out of the 31 players attending, 18 indicated decisions to trust Christ as their Savior!!! Student Venture will be doing a 5 week follow up Bible Study with these guys. Pray for their hearts and especially for these next 5 weeks!
